Partners in Peace and BRIJ held our final event for the 2019 Cohort at Brown on Sunday, May 5th, 2019! We started with our BRIJ Closing Ceremony, recognizing every one of the amazing students we had this year. The Islamic School of Rhode Island and Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island then coordinated community service activities for all of the families who attended to give back and support community members.

BRIJ@Brown Kickoff Community Dinner
BRIJ launched our 2018 BRIJ@Brown initiative with a community dinner on Sunday, February 11. In the face of rising Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism across the country, the dinner aimed to unite students from different backgrounds, brought together with a single message: “Hate Has No Home Here.”
BRIJ Brunch & Workshop with KidsGive
On Sunday, February 11 at 11am, we were happy to host students and parents for a brunch and a workshop with KidsGive, a scholarship program associated with Lawrence University. KidsGive led an engaging presentation aimed at educating BRIJ students about Sierra Leone. Students then participated in a letter writing activity, to send messages to students and kids like them in Sierra Leone.

This year, the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island and the Islamic School of Rhode Island came together for their third annual MLK Day community event. The day was a success with over a hundred participants. The GAMM Theater led a workshop for families with children of all ages.
